El Nahda (Jesuit culture Centre – Cairo) is an Egyptian NGO established in 1998. We aspire to contribute to cultural justice and freedom of expression through empowering groups of marginalized youth, children, artists, local communities, and vulnerable groups; by providing access to means of expression and granting their contribution in culture production. We believe in the role of culture and arts in human development. We offer avenue for engaging the realities of the everyday life, initiating public dialogue and stimulating new imagination of the world. El-Nahda works on three main categories; Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and what we call ‘Open Source Platform’.

El-Nahda is an Egyptian NGO established in 1998 initiated by Jesuit brothers and some public figures. We aspire to contribute to cultural justice and freedom of expression through empowering groups of marginalized youth, children, artists, local communities, and vulnerable groups; by providing access to means of expression and granting their contribution in culture production in Cairo and many governorates. We do this in an offensive political context that do not tolerate with freedom of expression and narrow public spaces against any collective initiative. We consider our work as a contribution to widening spaces and possibilities of freedom in the revolutionary Egypt. We believe in the role of culture and arts in human development. We offer avenue for engaging the realities of the everyday life, initiating public dialogue and stimulating new imagination of the world.
